Director, Laboratory Services

GENERAL PURPOSE:  Serves as the Director of the Clinical Laboratory Departments. This includes the sections of Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Special Chemistry, Microbiology and Pathology. Is responsible for the department's continuous and effective operation and ongoing performance improvement. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of SI. Francis Medical Center. MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize and direct laboratory functions, including: technical aspects of Clinical Laboratory Technology, personnel management, fiscal management, education and credentialing processes, as well as accreditation and legal requirements. Thorough knowledge of actions and interactions of the Laboratory with major functions in the Hospital. Knowledge of PT services desirable. Works collaboratively with all members of the management team and Medical Staff towards achievement of the Medical Center's goals and objectives. Provides on-going leadership in the areas of financial accountability, personal development and quality care/service for assigned areas and functions. This position requires providing managerial/administrative supervision to departments which provide care/service to a neonatal through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:  LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS          Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.   EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE          Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology or a related field required          Master Degree in Health Administration or related field.           Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in the Clinical Laboratory with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in supervision.  PHYSICAL DEMAND Must continuously (66% to 100% of a work day): o          Repetitive hand use/keyboarding Must frequently (33% to 66% of a work day): o          Twisting and bending of the neck forward and backward o          Wrist rotation and deviation o          Sitting and waist bending while sitting o          Walking on tile floors Must occasionally (11% to 33% of a work day): o          Standing on tile floors o          Squatting and stooping          WORKING CONDITIONS - Rapidly changing priorities,  Multiple priorities,        Exposed to noise, mechanical, electrical, sharps and chemical hazards.   10923

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
